GAMEPLAY OVERVIEW - 2014

GAMEPLAY OVERVIEW - 2014-2015 challenge version

Once a week at noon EST, a new challenge will be posted on /ck/ and this blog. The challenges will be (for the most part!) simple, and broad enough to allow plenty of creativity (example challenge: apples--cook a delicious dish that feature apples as the star). Once the week's challenge is posted, you have one week to complete and post your dish, unless otherwise notified of an extension.

To submit your dish, simply post a timestamped entry photo in the designated Challenge thread on /ck/. While a simple single-photo entry will suffice, we encourage all contestants to post verticals/additional photos of the cooking process. Not only do we think it's more fun, but in the case of ties, the judges will decide which contestant moves on... and we like to see cooking photos!

To vote, simply comment and rate each individual dish using the following scoring format in each Challenge thread:

Presentation: /5
Originality: /5
Appeal: /5
Challenge Goals: /5

You get to decide how successful an entry is in fulfilling those four categories, out of a possible total score of 20 points (5 points per category). The highest rated contestants will be the ones to move onto subsequent rounds.

That's it! Comment and tell us what you think of the entries. Entry submission and scoring will be kept in the same thread. This means we will only have ONE official /ck/ Challenge thread at a time.

***
The /ck/ Challenge will consist of 10 weekly challenges in total.

The first three rounds of competition are open to anyone and everyone to enter.

For rounds 1-3, contestants will not be eliminated or given penalties for failing to submit a successful dish. However, cumulative points will determine which players move on to Round 4. This means that while you can skip a week's challenge for the first three rounds, it is highly recommended that you submit an entry every week so your total score will not be affected.

The maximum number of contestants that move on to Round 4 will be capped at 15, so make sure to submit something delicious every week. :)

For rounds 4-10, contestants will be eliminated based on their scores per challenge. That means if you do poorly in Round 4, you may be eliminated even if you were a total ro/ck/star during Rounds 1-3! With Round 6, penalties and rewards will be introduced to gameplay. Even if you are not eliminated, if you are in the bottom for a round, you may be given a penalty that applies to the next challenge (such as not being able to use x ingredient to prepare your dish). Alternatively, if you received the highest number of votes, you may be given an advantage over the other contestants...or even prizes!

RULES

-For the sake of simplifying the voting process, we require that you adopt a 'signature'. Use a Challenge-specific tripname* or some other sort of method to distinguish yourself, such as a cute bird or creepy statue in your entry photos.

*We understand that you may be opposed to using a tripcode, however that is the easiest way to distinguish who is who, and will keep voting from turning into a small nightmare. If you already use a tripcode on 4chan, we strongly recommend you use a a different name as your board reputation may skew votes against your favor.

-You must timestamp all of your entries.
-Please don't rate your own entry multiple times. Blatant samefagging will result in a warning/disqualification.
-If you received a penalty, you must follow it in creating your dish or your entry for that week will be disqualified (and you may be booted from the game!).
